Remember, there is no such thing as a silly question, and we’ve probably been asked it before anyway!                                          

Below are details of how we have made getting around Pitlands Farm Holidays as easy and accessible for everyone.

Property Access & Parking:

  • All of our properties are accessed via our main drive, with signposts directing you to each property. 
  • The road is mainly tarmac with some gravel. 
  • All properties have their own parking immediately outside of the property. 

Property Entrances:

Chestnut Lodge:

  •  3 steps or a slope so suitable for wheelchair access/mobility vehicles. 
  • Low profile door threshold with a 2ft 9″ wide door to main entrance – wheelchair/mobility vehicle/pushchair accessible.
  • 2ft 9″ wide doors throughout property – wheelchair/mobility vehicle accessible.

Chaff House/Woodpecker Lodge/Kingfisher Lodge/Heron Lodge/Pippin/Bungalow/Bramley Bungalow

  • 1 step access to each property
  • At least 2ft 6″ wide doors to main entrances and throughout the properties. 

Russet Bungalow:

  • 6 shallow steps to access the property. 
  • Standard 2ft 6″ wide door to main entrance and throughout the bungalow.

Living Spaces/Kitchen:

  • All properties have open plan kitchen/living/dining spaces on a level floor, with the exception of Chaff House.                    
  • Chaff House has an interlinked kitchen/lounge/dining room with 1 step. 

Bedrooms/Bathrooms:

Chestnut Lodge/Woodpecker Lodge/Kingfisher Lodge/Heron Lodge:

  • 1 ground floor bedroom with wet room in each property (grab rails in Chestnut Lodge wet room)
  • Further bedrooms and bathrooms on 1st floors

Pippin Bungalow/Russet Bungalow/Bramley Bungalow:

  • 2 ground floor bedrooms with 1 walk in shower room in each property. 

Chaff House:

  • 1 ground floor wet room. 
  • No ground floor bedrooms. 

Out-Door Lighting:

  • External lights with motion sensors are located  by the front doors of all properties 
  • Switch lights are provided by all patios and all hot tubs.
  • A combination of motion sensor lights and dawn till dusk timer lights are positioned all around the farm to provide light in the hours of dusk and darkness.

Grounds & Gardens:

  • Fine gravel paths meander through the grounds and gardens suitable for wheelchairs, mobility vehicles and pushchairs.
  • Some areas in the centre of are holiday farm are tarmaced suitable for wheelchairs, mobility vehicles and pushchairs.
  • Steps are located in various places though the gardens but alternatives routes can be taken to avoid them. 
  • Accessible swing baskets form part of our adventure play equipment.

Fishing:

  • All of our fishing platforms are accessed from fine gravel paths suitable for wheelchairs, mobility vehicles and pushchairs. 
  • All fishing platforms are level with the ground with no steps up or down. 
  • 1 fishing platform is extra wide so suitable for families with young children and those with additional mobility needs. 
  • Bramley Bungalow (sleeps 4) is closest to the top fishing lake.
  • Kingfisher Lodge (sleeps 6) is closest to the bottoms fishing lake.

The Apple Tree Kitchen - Our Farm Cafe:

  • The Apple Tree Kitchen is centrally located on the Farm. 
  • The entrance to the cafe is via a gentle slope.
  • The doors are 2ft 9″ or larger so wheel chair, mobility vehicle and pushchair accessible. 
  •  1 door has a low profile threshold and an access ramp is available for a 2nd entrance if required. 
  • Disabled and baby changing facility’s are in both sets of toilets. 
  • Table layouts are arranged for the comfort and ease of those using wheel chairs and pushchairs. 

Accessible equipment:

  • For the comfort of our guests during their stay with us, we have the following items available to use free to charge:
    •  Wheelchair/support frame/shower chair/commode/access ramp/high chairs/travel cots. 
    • We can facilitate the hire of a mobility vehicle from a local company, please enquire and we can help with making arrangements.
